Wrote...Some of the best action Huites has seen in years! Bill Prendergast reported catching 80 consecutive bass in the reforma. The Rio Fuerte River, although stained, is holding the better quality bass in the 3 1/2 to 7 1/2 lb. range. Swimbaits are catching the larger fish, while 6 inch lizards Texas rigged are catching all of the numbers desired.

Wrote...Great action at Huites with several fish up to 9.9 lbs. The population of bass at Lake Huites is outstanding. On any given day, you can catch 250 fish per boat - a lot of small ones but we are catching fish in the 9 lb. range, close to 10, with a couple of fish this month nearing the 11 lb. mark. The water level is good at Huites, although parts of the lake seem to be stained from the recent rains in the Chihuahua mountains. Russ Johnson reports that the quality of fish at Huites is the best he has seen in three years.

Wrote...Cheryl, Thanks a bunch. We had a blast. Great accommodations and food, great scenery, awesome staff, and unbelievable fishing. Hope our group didn’t get barred from ever coming back. We did a lot of cutting up but your staff took to us well. We caught over 200 per boat on the very first day. We estimate that we caught over 2000 fish between the 6 of us in the 4 days we fished. The biggest of the group was 9 pounds 4 oz caught by David Pemberton on a crank bait. I caught the second biggest, 8 pounds, on a zara spook in the last hour of the last day. See attached pictures. David Duplantis caught (2) 6.5 pounders and Steve Harvill caught (1) 6.5 pounder. David Duplantis and I caught at least (10) 5 pounders, (50) 4 pounders, and the rest 1 to 3 pounders. David and I fished mainly top water and pastic worms/ lizards, but caught well on black spinner baits and a few on baby bass crankbaits. I went thru all 6 packs of Senkos on the first day before lunch. The pearl flukes were a second best with the green lizard a close second. Actually, I caught well on every color I threw and even had a strike on a bare hook and weight. Mike Harvill had a contest with his guide Florenzio. Mike made a double worm rig up and used his Purple Firetail and Florenzio’s favorite worm. The Purple Firetail worm was the winner. What an unforgettable trip. David and I are already are talking about coming back in a year or two. Do you do a combo Huites/Baccarac trip? David and I would also like to commend our guide Moses for a job well done. Thanks again Gary LeBouef

Wrote...Cheryl, Great food, beautiful scenery, an OUTSTANDING guide (Manuel Vega), and wonderful people at the lodge made for a very memorable trip. John, Elton and myself caught alot of fish, so many that our sides were bruised from setting the hook. We had a few fish that felt enormous, but when they got close to the boat you would find two fish attached to your lure. Made for interesting fishing. We had six fish break 20 lb test line, those are the big ones that got away. You can tell anyone heading down in the near future that once they think they have enough watermelon lizards, go buy more because they don't want to run out!

Wrote...Hi Terry, just wanted to let you know we all had a great time at Lake Huites. I was part of the group with Bob Benes, my brother and I caught allot of fish, one afternoon in the span of about two hours we had to have caught over 100! Never seen anything like it, can't wait to come back. Hey I am sending you a picture of Mitch (one of the guys in our group) he caught the largest fish of the trip, was wondering if you could maybe post it in your photo page, the guys would get a kick out of that. You have one of my brother right now on your site (Doug Schmidt)he had a great time as well. The food was excellent as were the guides, maybe next time Baccarac!

Wrote...This report just in from Rod Phillips, host of the TV show, West Texas Sportsman: Action is unbeliveable! The numbers of fish that can be caught cannot be duplicated anywhere in Mexico. Everywhere we stopped, we experienced swarms of frenzied bass. We did manage to land a 9 pounder on a Bill Dance fishing around the trees near canyon #3. We had so many multiple hookups - our best was on one rattletrap, a 6 and an 8 pounder on the same lure. We caught over 18 fish over 6 lb. while filming for one and a half days. As soon as the lizard bit turned off, the crank bite turned on and you can alternate this pattern all day long. Lake Huites Lodge and its service cannot be matched. See you on the water!

Wrote...Russ Johnson just called in with a great report. Average boat is catching over 100 fish a day and reports that fishing is fantastic all over the lake. Medium-running crankbaits and large crankbaits today were the hottest lures on the lake. Colors such as fire tiger and baby bass, along with pearl colored flukes worked excellent. Skip Fischer from Kentucky reported seeing a bass near the boat that broke off that was as big as the fish over our fireplace, which is a replica of an 18 1/2 lb. The other two boats fishing reported the same results with 150 fish per day per boat, several fish pushing the 8 lb. mark. Numbers of fish 4 to 6 lbs. and countless fish between 2 and 4 lbs., with trophies breaking their lines in the canyons and near the railroad tracks.

Wrote...Opening morning at Lake Huites Lodge has come and gone. Rick and Skip Fischer boated 102 fish this morning, fishing near the dam using pearl flukes, buzzbaits with chartreuse tails. The biggest fish was 8 1/2 lbs. with numerous quality fish over 5 lbs. and countless fish between 3 and 5 lbs. Russ Johnson fished near the railroad tracks and also had the same luck, but was throwing small and medium BIll Dance crankbaits. Huites is off to a great start. The lake is full and the water is clear and the fish are biting.

Wrote...Lake Huites is 100% full. The bass activity is the best we have seen at the lake since it being dammed. It could be possible that there are just too many fish in the lake. There was no place we stopped where we did not catch thirty to forty bass. The canyons were exceptionally productive, with fish up to 8 lbs. The lake is clear with the exception of the waters west of Las Cruces. Narlin has been working with the guides and has made the best guides on the lake even better. He will challenge his pool of guides against any of the other guides at any of the other lodges. Lake Huites Lodge is the only lodge on the lake that is offerring regular charter service into El Fuerte, eliminating your travel time and maximizing your fishing time. We will see you at the lodge very soon!

Wrote...Lake Huites is within just a few feet of being full again. The water today is crystal clear, and the numbers of bass caught are excellent! We caught over 100 bass between 1 1/2 and 6 lbs. the firsts two hours we fished. Recently, the lake has been stocked with Florida bass again, trying to improve the bloodline. In the canyons and in the Chimney Pass River, fish can be caught at almost every point.

Wrote...Lake Huites is in great shape for this time of year. The lake is currently at 70% capacity and the lower lakes Hidalgo and Dominguez at almost near full pool. Huites is producing excellent catches. Russ reports that there may be too many bass in the lake and laughed. He said almost every place they stopped in the last few days, they have caught fish ranging from 1 to 5 lbs. in 15 feet of water and the schooling bass can be seen chasing shad on almost every point. Zoom 6 inch junebug and red shad worms have worked the best this past week. Also Little George crankbaits thrown around the schooling bass are catching fish on almost every cast. The bigger fish are in 30 plus feet of water and can be caught by throwing spinnerbaits and bounding them off of the bottom.

Wrote...Catches per boat are ranging from 50 to 125 per boat, depending on the patterns fished during the day. Catching lots of 1 to 3 lb. fish but also finding more 5 to 8 lb. fish than we have seen in three years. The canyons are full of fish that will react to just about any bait. The areas in front of Taco Paco are excellent for plastics and Carolina-rigged lizards.

Went out one afternoon and caught 60 fish with 20 fish being better than 5 lbs. Had two fish over 8lbs on crankbaits. Our guide Nino was great and worked hard for us. The food was great and the service of your whole staff could not have been better. Can't wait to return.

Wrote...Lake Huites is very, very good right now with lots of folks catching in excess of 150 fish per day, up to 8 1/2 lbs. Almost every place on the lake is holding some fish. Twin tail flukes and senkos are catching numbers with medium-running crankbaits catching fish up to 8 1/2 lbs. on the main lake points. PopRs and buzzbaits doing very good late evening, fishing all of the way to almost past dark. The lake is still 98% full and the bass activity is the best we have seen it in four years.

Wrote...Terry, Four friends and I spent Mar. 16 17 18 Fishing at Huites. We had a great time . Everyone was well pleased with the service and attention we received. Manuel was my guide and he was great,he put us on fish everwhere we went. We stopped at one spot and I caught 15 fish on 15 cast all between 2 and 4 lbs. I would guess I caught between 100 and 200 bass each day not counting what he caught. The largest fish caught in our group was an 8 1/2 pounder by Rod Battles. We didn`t catch alot of big fish but numbers made up for lack of size. The girls in the kitchen were great , coffee at our door in the morning and margarettas at lunch and at night. The food was great also. Narlin does a good job for you also, I got to fish with he and Manuel last Friday morning we had a great time with them singing . hope to get to do this again maybe in Oct. We`ll be talking to you later. Thanks alot. Lynn Davenport

Wrote...Just returned with son from several days of fishing Huites with guide Manuel. Best technique seemed to be medium cranks and swimbaits in 5 to 10 foot depth honey holes. When the crank and swimbait action slowed, we could change to worms and continue to catch a few more. Caught 196 between 1 and 4 1/2 pounds before noon on our best morning. Averaged about 200 fish per day for 3 days. Many strikes on medium-sized white and shad swimbaits but found it difficult to hook them. Service was excellent but the road from Los Mochis to the lodge really rattled our teeth.

Most all fish caught using medium-running crankbaits and spinnerbaits in 5 to 15 feet of water and fish could literally be caught everywhere they stopped. Although the largest fish was 6 lbs., the fishing was excellent for fish in the 1 1/2 to 3 1/2 lb. range. Irving deGaris and his wife caught so many fish this morning - in excess of 150 fish - the just fished for a couple of hours this afternoon.

Wrote...Lake Huites is way above the old high water mark. Water is pretty stained as well; although clearer water can be found if you look hard. Had a real good trip, the staff at Lake Huites Lodge was great as always. My brother and I did real well numbers wise each day although our largest bass was 6 LBS. Did catch an 8 LB catfish (channel ?) on a spinner bait..... The high, stained water has the fish real shallow and tight to the bank and cover. All in all another great trip. The lake ought to be fantastic this coming fall and spring with the increased nutrient influx.

Its a hit and miss deal all day. 0 fish sometimes to 75 in one hour. My opion is the lake needs about one more month to warm and settle down from the record rainfall. Thanks to all at the Lodge for a great job and a nice trip.

Wrote...Just returned from Lake HUITES and had a wonderful trip. 2 out of 3 days where excellent catches with numbers over 120 per boat by myself and my partner. 1 day was very slow and very cold. We used only 6 inch worms and fished in 22ft of water. Near the Damn the fishing is very slow because of the dirty water. The canyons and the rivers produced the better fishing. Good Fishing
